Prophet Muhammad (Revelation and Migration)

  Prophet Muhammad (Revelation and Migration)

The world stands on the brink of the pit of hell, humanity is rapidly moving towards misguidance and misery, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has completed forty years of his life. Here, the signs of the morning appeared, and the time of the resurrection came, and the greatest meeting took place in the life of mankind, the meeting of Gabriel, peace be upon him, with Muhammad, peace be upon him, for the light of Islam shone, and Gabriel, peace be upon him, descended by the command of the One and Only, carrying the greatest message, to the best messenger, Muhammad, peace be upon him, to change life, take the hand of lost humanity, and spread faith, justice, monotheism and light.

The beginning of revelation

At the age of forty (610 AD), while the Prophet (peace be upon him) was worshiping in the cave of Hira, the angel Gabriel, peace be upon him, descended upon him for the first time. Gabriel said to him: “Read.” The Prophet replied: “I am not a reader.” Gabriel repeated the request three times, then said:

{“Recite in the name of your Lord, who created * He created man from a stick * Recite and your Lord, the most honored * Who taught with the pen * He taught man what he did not know” (Surat Al-Alaq: 1-5).

These were the first verses of the Holy Qur'an that were revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him), the beginning of the revelation and the beginning of the Islamic message.

Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, tells us about the beginning of the revelation and the brightness of the revelation: The first revelation that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began to receive was a good vision in his sleep, and he would not see a vision unless it came like the breaking of the morning, then he was favored with solitude, and he used to retreat in the cave of Hira, where he would retreat (worship) for many nights, before he went to his family and prepared for that, then returned to Khadija and prepared for the same, until the truth came to him while he was in the cave of Hira, and the angel came to him and said: Read, I said: I am not a reader, he said: He took me and enveloped me until I was exhausted, then he sent me and said: Read, I said: I am not a reader, he said: He enveloped me a second time until I was exhausted, then he sent me and said: I said: I am not a reader, so he took me and covered me the third time, then sent me and said: {Read in the name of your Lord, who created. He created man from a stork. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned to his wife Khadija bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: He said to Khadija, “I am afraid for myself,” and Khadija said, “No, by Allah, Allah will never shame you. No, by Allah, Allah will never disgrace you, for you are the one who reaches out to the womb, bears the burden, provides for the needy, helps the guest, and assists in the affliction of the right, so Khadija took him until she came to Waraqa ibn Nawfal, her uncle, and he was a man who had become a Christian in ignorance, and he used to write the Hebrew book of the Bible in Hebrew what Allah willed him to write, and he was old and blind, so Khadija said to him: O cousin, listen to your nephew, and Waraqa said to him: “O my nephew, what do you see?” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) told him what he saw, and Waraqa told him: This is the Law (Jibril, peace be upon him) that Allah revealed to Moses, I wish I were a stump (a young man). He said, “I wish I were alive when your people cast you out: He said: “Yes, no man has ever come up with anything like what you came up with except to return, and if your day catches me, I will give you a great victory.” (Al-Bukhari) Then Waraqa soon died, and the revelation stopped.

The Prophet's reaction

After this great event, the Prophet returned to his wife Khadija bint Khuwaylid, trembling with fear. She reassured him and said, “No, by Allah, you will never be disgraced by Allah, for you are the one who connects the womb, bears all, provides for the needy, helps the guest, and assists in the affliction of the righteous.” She then took him to her cousin Waraqa ibn Nawfal, who was familiar with the previous heavenly books. Waraqa said: “This is the law that was revealed to Moses, I wish I were a stump, I wish I were alive when your people take you out.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Or are they taking me out?” Waraqa replied: “Yes, no man has come with anything like what you have come with except to return.”

There is no doubt that this event carries with it many connotations and meanings that we should ponder and consider:

The truth of the revelation is a miraculous miracle, as the Qur'an, which is the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and all the truths of religion with its doctrines, legislations and morals, and therefore the Orientalists and polytheists before them were interested in challenging and questioning the truth of the revelation, and they tried to twist the phenomenon of revelation from its truth and from what we have received in the authentic Sunnah, and the reliable historians told us, so one says : Self-talk, and another says: Spiritual illumination and inspiration: Spiritual illumination and inspiration.

Continued revelation

After that, revelations continued to descend on the Prophet for 23 years, bringing the message of Islam to humanity. In the beginning, the call was secret, as the Prophet began to call those closest to him, such as his wife Khadija, his cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib, and his friend Abu Bakr al-Siddiq. Then God ordered him to announce the call, and he began to openly call people to worship God alone and leave idols.

The truth is that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), while he was in the cave of Hira, was surprised by Gabriel in front of him, seeing him with his eyes, saying to him, “Read,” so that it is clear that the phenomenon of revelation is not an internal subjective matter due to self-talk, but rather a reception and reception of an external reality that has nothing to do with the soul and inspiration: The fact that Gabriel included him and sent him three times, saying each time: “Read,” is a confirmation of this external reception, and an exaggeration of the denial of what might be imagined as nothing more than imagination or self-talk, as claimed by those who are professional in questioning Islam and misleading Muslims, from the enemies of Islam and those who followed them. The Prophet - peace be upon him - was frightened by what he heard and saw, and he hurried to his house, trembling his heart. This shows that the Prophet - peace be upon him - was not eager for the message that he would be charged with delivering to the people, and God Almighty said in confirmation of this meaning: We have revealed to you a spirit of our command, you did not know what the Scripture or faith is, but we have made it a light by which we guide whomever we will of our servants, and you guide to a straight path {(Al-Shura:52)

The first word is the command to read {read in the name of your Lord}, which is a tribute to science and its virtues, and the pen and its danger, because science has its place in building individuals, peoples and nations, and Islam still urges and commands science, raises the rank of its people, and distinguishes them over others, Almighty God said: {Allah raises those who have believed among you and those who have acquired knowledge to a higher level: {Allah raises those who have believed among you and those who have attained knowledge by degrees, and God knows what you do well}(Al-Mujadala: from verse 11), and the Almighty said: { Say: Is it equal for those who know and those who do not know, it is only those who have the best minds that remember}(Al-Zamar: from verse 9). . When mankind deviates from God's path, its knowledge will come back to haunt it, and will be the cause of its annihilation.

After years of preaching in Mecca, the Prophet (PBUH) and his companions faced severe persecution from the Quraysh. The Quraysh opposed the call because it threatened their economic and social interests. This persecution reached its peak after the death of his uncle Abu Talib and his wife Khadija, which made the Prophet seek a safe place to spread the call.

Migration to Medina

In 622 AD, Allah Almighty authorized the Prophet to migrate to Medina (then Yathrib). Medina was a safer place, as there were a number of Muslims who had pledged allegiance to the Prophet in the Bay'ah of Aqaba. The Prophet migrated with his companion Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), after leaving Ali ibn Abi Talib in his bed to deliver the trusts to their people.

The cave incident

During the Hijrah, the Prophet (PBUH) and Abu Bakr hid in the cave of Thawr for three days, as the polytheists caught up with them. Abu Bakr said, “If one of them looked under his feet, he would have seen us,” and the Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: “What do you think of two, God is the third.” This incident was a proof of Allah's protection and support for His Prophet.

Arrival in Medina

After an arduous journey, the Prophet arrived in Medina, where he was welcomed with great joy. A new phase of building the Islamic state began. The Prophet took several measures to organize the new society, such as building the Prophet's Mosque, establishing brotherhood between the Muhajireen and Ansar, and establishing relations with other tribes.
